Carbios Joins Ellen MacArthur Foundation to Accelerate the Transition to Circular Fashion

Carbios, a French biochemistry company, has recently partnered with the Ellen MacArthur Circular Economy Network in a bid to increase sustainability efforts in the fashion industry. The aim of the collaboration is to unite a multitude of thought leaders, academics, innovators, and policymakers in the Circular Economy Network to develop innovative solutions that minimize plastic waste.

Carbios specializes in enzyme-based recycling and biodegradability and has worked to completely revolutionize the life cycle of plastic and textile products. The firm’s objectives align with the Circular Economy Network’s three core initiatives: elimination, innovation, and circulation. To showcase their commitment, Carbios formed two consortia, the first of which launched in 2022 with major brands such as Patagonia, On, Puma, PVH Corp. and Salomon. The firm’s first sustainability report was released at the end of last year.

Katie Attrill, network manager at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, said: “Carbios is a highly respected organisation with the ability to deliver impact and a high level of organisational buy-in. We welcome Carbios as a Network Member and look forward to supporting the company on its circular economy journey.”
